Joint development effort with Infor results in new PTF for ERP XA users.

Quadrant Software, a leading software developer for paperless process management solutions, has announced the immediate availability of Formtastic 5.4.3, the newest release of its distinguished electronic forms, barcode labels, and MICR check printing solution.

Formtastic 5.4.3 includes several enhancements that will provide users with additional capability and efficiency in creating and designing company documents, laser MICR checks and barcode or thermal labels and populate them with the data from their System i application, all without ever leaving the computer screen.

The latest version of Formtastic brings the following key features:

  • Integration with Infor ERP XA for emailing PDF documents

In a joint development effort, Quadrant Software and Infor have released a new PTF for ERP XA users enabling them to email PDF documents using professional-looking form designs. The new PTF, SH84792, for ERP XA R7 and R7.8 provides seamless integration with Quadrant Software's Formtastic, giving users a powerful PDF conversion engine that works behind the scenes capturing the raw spool file and converting it into an electronic form that is then emailed as a PDF file. The ease of use and the improvement in document presentation and delivery makes this PTF a must-have download for ERP XA accounts.

  • Support for USPS 4-State Customer Barcode

The 4-State Barcode is the next generation of USPS barcode technology used to sort and track letters and flats. Customers willing to take advantage of this new barcode and save on shipping can do so by using Formtastic 5.4.3.

  • Working Offline with the PC Formatter Editor

Formatter is the add-on module to Formtastic that gives users the power to re-format their spool files to reduce page count and to include additional information from database files not originally contained within the spool file itself. Formatter now has a new "offline mode" that gives Formtastic users the ability to create and design templates even when they are not connected to the iSeries server. Additionally, an "auto save" feature has been created to guarantee that all documents can be retrieved even when a user forgets to save their document before closing or if a connection has been lost, ensuring complete disaster recovery.

  • New Auto-Merge Startup Option

The new STARTAM feature for auto-merge provides users with the option of setting up auto-merges that will begin processing immediately when the Formtastic subsystem is initialized, simplifying the configuration for users even more than before. Users will have the option of selecting all auto-merges in forms and checks to begin when the system is loaded or selecting specific auto-merges to load at system start. The STARTAM command can be used interactively and in batch, catering to the needs of each customer.

  • Dynamic Form Merge for Duplex Printing

Another enhancement with auto-merge is creating dynamic front and back-sides for forms and checks. Users can now use the same information on the front and back of their documents or dynamically set up different information to be merged on the back of their forms or checks such as disclaimers, warranty information, confidentiality statements, notices, and more.

  • Additional Output Paths for the PDF Module

Formtastic PDF module now allows up to five output paths for saving merged documents as PDF files. This allows users to save multiple copies of a document in different locations on their network at the same time. In addition to that, if the original output path is not available, the desired files will be recovered and posted to the desired output path when it becomes available. To prevent any type of loss to the file during the process, an error notification will be sent to the Formtastic Administrator if the file is not posted to its original path, or if the output path is not available.

  • Control of Email Subject and Attachment Name via API Commands

After a spooled file is merged with a Formtastic form, it can then be automatically emailed as an attachment. For those who want even more control over how their documents are emailed, a new set of API commands now allows complete control over the email subject line and the filenames of the attachments.

  • Additional Support in Image/Signature Capture Module

Formtastic Image Capture module allows users to add a batch of images dynamically to a merged form. Purchase orders can include sketches of the materials ordered, pick lists can show pictures of specific parts to pick, invoices can include diagrams of the goods purchased, and any other document can contain images matching the contents of the spool file. Formtastic now supports images in JPEG format (both color and black and white) and filenames can now contain up to 64 characters (up from the previous 20-character limit), facilitating the job of locating files and archiving them.

Formtastic 5.4.3 is available immediately. Formtastic customers on previous releases will gain significant advantages when upgrading to the latest release. The upgrade is free for customers currently under maintenance.

Infor ERP XA users running R7 and R7.8 that want to take advantage of the new PDF conversion engine can download the PTF from Infor's technical support site, www.infor365.com
