JustSystems has announced an OEM agreement with IBM to bring XML and component-based authoring to the enterprise.
Under the terms of the agreement, JustSystems will embed and resell IBM WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition (IICE) with its new XMetaL for ECM offering, which was announced earlier this month.
By combining XMetaL with IICE, XMetaL becomes the only structured authoring application that seamlessly connects to more than 20 commercial repositories and file systems, the company says.. The integration of XMetaL with WebSphere IICE will allow organizations to broaden XMetaL deployments and to leverage the repositories they're currently using to store and manage content, the company said.
"Organizations are looking to broaden deployments of structured authoring beyond traditional tech pubs to take advantage of the speed, cost, quality, and reuse advantages it provides," said Jake Sorofman, senior vice president of marketing and business development for JustSystems. "This agreement allows us to deliver more value to customers who want to deploy XMetaL more broadly, in conjunction with the variety of enterprise repositories they're currently using."
"The combination of XMetaL and IICE will allow customers to easily and cost-effectively create, store and manage content across a wide range of content management systems they currently have," said Rob Thomas, vice president, IBM Information Management. "Through our expanded relationship and collaboration with JustSystems, we can help clients improve their ability to use information as a competitive business asset."
XMetaL on IICE
XMetaL is JustSystems' structured authoring application. XMetaL lets organizations dramatically improve the quality and consistency of product and technical documentation, policies, procedures and other published content, while improving reuse and reducing the time and cost of creation, localization and maintenance.
Combining IBM WebSphere IICE, XMetaL for ECM will enable organizations to pursue a content reuse and single-source publishing strategy using the repositories they already have, without the cost and complexity of creating and maintaining custom integrations.
