iMessaging Systems has announced it's entrance into the VoIP market with the formal release of a SIP-enabled version of iMessaging's iNspire Call Center Suite for the all-in-one System i business computing platform.
iNspire has been enhanced to support SIP in conjunction with IBM's System i integrated collaboration solution. With support of the SIP open standard, iNspire provides telephony functions in a more efficient manner by bypassing traditional telephone interfaces. System i customers and ISVs can now use iNspire to integrate any business application on System i with telephony for inbound and outbound IVR (interactive voice response), intelligent call routing, custom screen pops, ACD queuing with music-on-hold, and custom status messages, click-to-call, and both automated and agent-assisted dialing services.
iMessaging's SIP development was accomplished through a cooperative effort with IBM and 3Com. iMessaging's iNspire telephony integration capabilities provide an excellent way for customers to link System i IP Telephony with System i-based business applications and data. "The integration of data, applications, and telephony on a single platform is a key advantage of System i IP telephony," notes Karen Sedlar, CEO of iMessaging. "As VoIP systems continue to replace traditional PBX systems, iNspire is well positioned to leverage this emerging technology."
iMessaging has developed the new interface using native SIP, a published, open standard developed and supported by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). The result is a solution that can operate with any SIP compliant telephone system. This means iNspire can integrate with VoIP environments as well as traditional TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) interfaces such as analog and T1.
"We have developed iNspire to provide an easy migration path to VoIP," notes Sedlar. "The iNspire product is native to the System i and uses System i based programming languages to control the customer interface with a client's business process. iNspire customers that start with TDM systemsùeither analog or T1ùand wish to migrate to SIP based VoIP, can transition with ease. We simply change the telephony interface to SIP."
The iNspire version of SIP was developed at iMessaging Systems labs with Version 7.2 of 3Com's VCX running on System i, and it was tested with all 3Com phones including the basic, manager's, and deluxe manager's phones.
Another advantage of the SIP-enabled version of iNspire is that it delivers high port densities for larger deployments at a lower cost per port. iNspire is cost effective for call centers ranging from entry-level sized, informal centers with a few representatives, to larger, formal environments supporting hundreds of customer service representatives. Pricing for the iNspire suite starts in the mid-$20,000 range and can reach more than $150,000 as requirements grow.
