The solution replaces multiple software packages with one integrated offering to help customers add bar code, forms, reports, and RFID technology without programming.

CYBRA Corp., developer of award-winning MarkMagic bar code labels, RFID tags, and electronic forms software and  EdgeMagic integrated RFID control software for IBM System i, has announced the availability of MarkMagic 7 Enterprise, an all-new version of the popular software used by thousands of customers worldwide. The culmination of years of innovative software engineering, MarkMagic 7 Enterprise is a total document development solution with features and capabilities not found in any other product on the market, according to the company. MarkMagic 7 replaces multiple software packages with one cost-effective, integrated offering to help customers add bar code, forms, reports, and RFID technology without programming.

There are three major new enhancements in MarkMagic 7 Enterprise:

  • FormComposer Report Writing
  • PrintTransformer Conditional Printing with Dynamic Formatting
  • OnDemand Web Document Serving

MarkMagic FormComposer

MarkMagic 7 FormComposer is a full-featured report writer with an amazingly simple-to-use interface. Customers are now able to produce all kinds of reports containing headers and repeating detail lines, lookup fields from any number of associated files, overflow handling, calculated fields and special functions--in minutes and without any programming. MarkMagic FormComposer is a report program generator with the programming part performed under the covers by MarkMagic. No technical skills are required to produce virtually all types of sophisticated multipage forms and reports.

MarkMagic has had the ability to format existing reports for a number of years. Earlier versions of MarkMagic let customers "map" to existing spooled report files to create electronic, plain paper laser forms. Now, FormComposer gives MarkMagic 7 Enterprise customers the ability to create full-blown forms and reports from scratch, without the need for a programmer. According to Harold Brand, CYBRA's CEO: "FormComposer can be addictive, especially when programming resources are scarce."

MarkMagic PrintTransformer

New add-on option MarkMagic PrintTransformer gives users the power to develop sophisticated, dynamically formatted print jobs without writing a line of code.

MarkMagic PrintTransformer lets users specify conditions and rules based on document information. At run time, MarkMagic PrintTransformer automatically processes these conditions and rules and dynamically formats fields, changes print instructions, and even bursts print jobs to print each record with its own set of instructions.

This new option lets users print fields based on user-defined conditions such as printing negative values in red, or hiding a box field if a carrier class of service does not require a box field to print. Text, bar code, line, box, graphic, text block and even RFID field attributes can be defined to conditionally print based on variable data or job attributes.

"MarkMagic PrintTransformer eliminates the need to maintain dozens of format variations to handle different scenarios, as was required in previous versions of MarkMagic," says Brand. "Now all the user needs to do is create one multi-purpose format and MarkMagic will modify the display, attributes and even position of text fields, bar code type, logos, lines and boxes--all controlled by the contents of the document."

Here are just a few examples of the unlimited ways that MarkMagic PrintTransformer makes sophisticated documents effortless:

  • Change field color based on data, in any field, in real time.
  • Change bar code type based on carrier, or customer, on a record by record basis.
  • Use a different check design. If the amount is greater than $5,000 and two hand signatures are required, PrintTransformer magically makes the second signature line appear.
  • Select Printer PrintTransformer can be instructed to choose the destination printer depending on the contents of the Branch Office Number database field, or to route the job to a specific printer based on the time of day, or user, or a limitless number of criteria.
  • Dynamically Change Fields depending upon label or document contents, such as a customer balance greater than zero, and the user wishes to print a reminder message, or to automatically print a holiday message if the Date is between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day.
  • Burst Print Jobs and use a different format for subsequent pages of a document. Now you can print header information on one page, and subsequent pages are all detail.

MarkMagic OnDemand

New add-on option MarkMagic OnDemand creates a Web based portal that allows customers to securely sign on (using a user ID and secure password) and search for and display, print or e-mail invoices, statements, purchase orders, or other MarkMagic Forms. When customers can search for, and optionally print, all types of documents by themselves, customer service representatives can spend their time on more productive, revenue positive activities.

MarkMagic OnDemand offers:

  • Self Service. MarkMagic OnDemand allows customers to interactively select record(s) for printing on any local printer from anywhere in the world.
  • Real Time Information. Customers are "served" a dynamically created PDF file over the Internet/Intranet/Extranet.
  • Data Source Flexibility. MarkMagic OnDemand can use file data from any system and any database including DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, and MYSQL.

In addition to the new features listed above, MarkMagic 7 Enterprise includes a number of additional enhancements and fixes detailed in the MarkMagic version history located at: http://www.cybra.com/version-history.html
