BCD announces the release of Presto 4.8, their rapid green screen web enablement and modernization tool. This version contains several new features, including enhancements to the Visual Editor’s Palette, which allows developers to add widgets to their screens without coding HTML.
The Palette now includes the ability to add tabs to screens. Tabs help organize data and unclutter screens, and can be used to navigate from one application to another. This gives the user the perception that the programs are on the same screen. BCD has also shipped many icons (e.g. print, help) with the Palette. Developers can drag and drop these icons onto screens, either on their own or as part of a button.
Presto 4.8 also includes the jQuery Mobile files, which reduces a step in further optimizing screens for mobile devices. This version features improved internationalization of the datepicker widget and configurable options that make it easier to globally style menus, such as the ability to select whether or not you want the menu number to appear on the screens. By default, menus are automatically transformed to clickable links.
