Manta Technologies Inc. has announced a new series in the Manta IBM i Training Library: the IBM i Programming Environment. This series introduces users to application development on an IBM i system. It describes the programming languages that are commonly used to develop applications in the IBM i environment as well as the tools available for developing programs.
Emphasis is placed on the development of ILE programs using modern tools such as Rational Developer for i (RDi) and the Remote Systems Explorer (RSE). However, the legacy development tools PDM and SEU are also covered.
A major part of program development in the IBM i environment is working with DB2 for i, the database management system that is an integral part of every IBM i system. The series covers DB2 concepts and describes how to create a database file using both SQL and DDS. Students will also see the tools available for entering SQL statements and performing database queries.
This series contains the following courses:
· IBM i Application Programming Concepts
· IBM i Programming Tools
The series also contains a comprehensive competency exam.
Like all Manta series, the IBM i Programming Environment is available in two ways. You can install the series on a PC or take the courses through MantaNow, Manta’s Internet-based delivery system. Prices for the series start at $198 for a one-year, single-user MantaNow license or $318 for a CD license. A companion Student Reference Guide is available for $25.
