This release contains all features and new functions gathered from our Milestones throughout the last 12 months (Milestone 1, 2, and 3). Bringing out new releases by Midsummer every year is part of our road map and promise to the market to deliver “future-proof” solutions.
By Remain Software
In our drive to offer top technology solutions, we are launching the first features of our Octo technology. Octo offers a graphical dashboard and full analysis of the use of TD/OMS, accessible from the web and includes URL tracking.
Highlights Release V14.1
Internal API:
To automate the DevOps pipeline, we have included new command line API’s and new REST API’s with more to come. In addition, the Promotion API has been enhanced to be completely autonomous. Speed and UX Improvements:
Many enhancements have been made to improve the speed and UX for the DevOps participants. Fixes include PDF generation, better selection mechanisms, and improved component navigation. All your development objects are visible from one view, whether in the IFS or in libraries. In combination withXREF, finding your objects and files has become a matter of seconds.
Rest Generator:
The RPG Free REST Generator is completely rewritten with Mustache technology. In addition, new functions have been added to the generator like Session Support, JWT Support, Login Code Generation, and CORS support. Also new is the automatic generation of unit tests to ensure you see possible RESTAPI’s breaks as early as possible in your DevOps pipeline. Finally, the generator separates business code from boilerplate code, like JSON marshaling and de-marshaling, to enable quick server generation AND maintenance.
Event System:
A brand new Event System ensures that you can hook into ALL actions that occur during deployment. Also, the Event System covers all other activities, like compiling, creating tasks, connecting objects, etc. The Event System can be compared to SQL triggers. Actions you can hook into the event system include program calls, email sending, message sending, CURL, etc. The possibilities are endless. The Event System can replace many legacy hooks we introduced over the years.
DevOps Integrations:
DevOps is a connectivity game. We recognized this early when we hooked TD/OMS into Jenkins and bamboo. Later on, we included Github, Gitlab, and Bitbucket. With this release, we have included support for Azure DevOps, completing support for all major DevOps providers.
Code Quality Integration:
Next to the continuous support for the Fresche tooling, we have included support for SonarQube Enterprise.
SonarQube Enterprise enables you to do static code analysis on RPG Code. TD/OMS will trigger the SQ scanning process and show all issues and code smells in the GUI.
Issue Tracker Integration:
In addition to our support for JIRA, ServiceNow, OTRS, and twelve other major issue tracking systems, we have added support for ZenDesk, ConnectWise, and ServiceDesk Plus. For all our integrations we
provide bi-directional connectivity. From the tracking system to TD/OMS and from TD/OMS back to the tracking system. We achieve this by connecting issues to tasks and vice versa. The integration with these tools enables our customers to have an end-to-end view of the complete DevOps pipeline: From initial request to deployment in the production environments, which has been our mission since 2003.
Remain has closed 74 enhancement requests over 171 tasks. In addition, Remain Software’s developers have transferred more than 17000 objects through the TD/OMS Development pipeline. All this kind of information is also visible on the new TD/OMS Analysis Dashboard.
