SystemObjects Corporation, specialists in web and mobile solutions for IBM i, today announces the general availability of Push4Servers, a new utility that allows system administrators and application developers to automatically send mobile device notifications, emails or text messages to users directly from IBM i or Windows systems or applications.
Application users and system administrators increasingly struggle to monitor significant system events and to identify critical messages within cluttered email Inboxes. The problem intensifies for mobile workers. Text messages and Push notifications break through the clutter, but most IBM i shops lack the development expertise necessary to implement and maintain automated messaging services for mobile devices.
The multi-platform Push4Servers solution provides full mobile messaging capabilities as a plug-and-play utility. It expands on the previously-released SP4i-Push with new support for sending text messages via SMS, support for sending messages from Windows systems and applications, and additional automation for IBM i implementations.
Push4Servers requires no programming for IBM i servers. An Automatic Log Analyzer filters messages from the QSYSOPR and relays them according to the rules defined in the Message Management module. For Windows — and for IBM i applications that do not write to QSYSOPR — the integration is achieved via a simple call to an API that is installed with Push4Servers’ Server Connector module.
“If you have a mobile device, you shouldn’t have to be logged into your system all the time to know if anything important is happening. Or worse, rely on crisis calls,” says Serge Charbit, CTO and President of SystemObjects. "Push4Servers will broadcast important information – as soon as it’s available – to the people who need it. You can use it for anything that generates a message to QSYSOPR…notify your field support when a customer is waiting for onsite service, update sales managers when contracts close, anything! And it’s so easy to set up."
Push4Servers supports an unlimited number of users accessing any number of IBM i or Windows servers/partitions. In addition, SystemObjects offers a no-charge Community Edition that supports up to 10 users for one IBM i or Windows server.
Push4Servers requires IBM i V6R1 or higher and consists of three parts:
- A cloud-based Message Management module;
- A Connector module, which is installed on the server;
- The free “Push4Servers” mobile app, available from iOS and Android stores, that’s used to receive push notifications. (SMS and email messages do not require a mobile app.)
