Software tools vendor LANSA has announced a new program called the "RAMP Challenge" aimed at organizations that are considering legacy application modernization.
In the program, companies will challenge LANSA to modernize a portion of their System i applications ù for freeùto prove the application provides the productivity benefits claimed. Through the challenge, LANSA will demonstrate RAMP's ability to extend and enhance the functionality of a legacy system, while at the same time improving its navigation and user interface.
Businesses may participate in the RAMP challenge by providing a portion of a System i legacy application that LANSA will modernize with RAMP. The resulting application would include new components running in a browser-based portal or rich client dashboard such as Web links, graphs, PDF documents, or Google maps, while preserving the existing legacy's functionality.
RAMP is specifically designed to quickly modernize existing applications in a staged process that developers control. The RAMP modernization process takes into account the real world requirements of being non-intrusive and easy to deploy ù no change is required in existing 5250 applications, and no new hardware or i5/OS operating system upgrades are required.
"The RAMP challenge was designed to give IT managers the ability to separate the wheat from the chaff among the many and often spurious claims made by vendors of modernization solutions," says John Siniscal, president of LANSA. "With RAMP, we have a unique new approach to application modernization that we are eager to show and prove to the skeptics out there, especially those who have tried alternative approaches and failed."
Information about participating in the RAMP challenge is available online at www.lansa.com.
