New releases allow developers to take advantage of the latest features in IBM i 7.1 and the latest updates from Microsoft.
HiT Software today announced the availability of HiT ODBC/400 V9.0 and HiT OLEDB/400, V5.0, the most recent versions of its software for application connectivity to IBM DB2 for i (AS/400) databases.
These software products fully support IBM i 7.1 standards, and all current and previous versions of Microsoft Windows and server products. The new versions provide full and rapid data access to the IBM i in support of complex application development using advanced Microsoft tools.
The products also offer a host of features including:
- Full support for Microsoft Windows 7, Visual Studio 2010, Office 2010 and Windows Server 2008
- 32-bit and 64-bit platform support
- New C# Toolkit in HiT ODBC/400 Developer Edition for powerful SQL management; includes source code
- Traces stored in common documents and personal folders
- New default folder for Microsoft data link files for Windows (Vista/2008 forward)
- New support for Visual Studio to show list of views inside Server Explorer
- New special timestamp format and improved security options
ODBC and OLE DB connectivity products provide market-leading performance and fast diagnostics, the company says. HiT’s SSL Server has the available option of 256-bit data encryption and authentication.
According to Giacomo Lorenzin, managing director of HiT Software, Inc., a BackOffice Associates, LLC Company, "We continue to update our DB2 connectivity products to support the requirements of evolving application development. With the popularity of Microsoft application development, it is critical that we optimize our products to application and platform standards as they improve. In addition to direct application access, we also see a significant amount of data movement between IBM DB2 for i and Microsoft SQL Server, to enable support for applications that do not run on the IBM i/AS400 platform. Our HiT Software products take advantage of all the newest developments in the IBM i, in Microsoft Windows products, and in Microsoft SQL Server, for fast, transparent data access.”
"We have used HiT Software’s high-performance ODBC connectivity products for application access to our IBM i databases for many years," said Circle K Store’s IT director. "We look forward to using this new version so that our developers can take advantage of new features available in the IBM i V7R1 as well as new Microsoft Windows and server features."
The HiT ODBC/400 and HiT OLEDB/400 products are backward compatible to previous versions of DB2. Free trials for both HiT ODBC/400 and HiT OLEDB/400 products can be download at www.hitsw.com. Both products also support 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft platforms. For more information, visit the company website above or contact Carolyn Hughes at
