IBM PureApplication System Service and software provides enhancements for enterprises' hybrid cloud, with additional options for hardware and on-premises clouds.

 

IBM PureApplication Service on SoftLayer allows clients to quickly deploy and manage lifecycle of enterprise workloads in a dedicated and isolated cloud environment. It provides hybrid cloud capability in conjunction with PureApplication System.

 

PureApplication Service on SoftLayer includes the following new capabilities:

  • Same workload deployment and lifecycle management capabilities of PureApplication System
  • Pattern engine and deployment
  • Compatibility with all Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based patterns or Microsoft Windows-based patterns
  • Autoscaling, workload monitoring, and caching
  • IBM General Parallel File System (GPFS) support
  • Advanced license management capability
  • Improved reporting, chargeback, and auditing
  • Enhanced user and group management
  • Cloud resource management (cloud groups, IP groups, and environment profiles)
  • Block storage
  • Ability to back up and restore of system and catalog
  • Purchase and provision PureApplication Service and patterns by using the on-demand, self-service portal
  • Flexible payment models

 

Additional enhancements include:

  • Cloud Zones to enable workload isolation and sub-capacity licensing in PureApplication Service
  • New 8-core and 16-core instances with increased memory
