PowerTech, a division of HelpSystems and the leader in security solutions for IBM i servers, today announced the release of a new version of their PowerAdmin user profile management tool.
PowerAdmin gives administrators a centralized way to create and manage user profiles on one system or even across multiple systems. It simplifies the work associated with profile management by letting administrators decide how much to manage automatically.
The latest version streamlines the process of onboarding new users and auditing profile settings. Additional options for categorizing users provide greater flexibility. Profiles can also be monitored and updated in real time.
PowerAdmin lets administrators implement role-based security by specifying access rights based on job responsibilities. Users can be grouped by department, position, or other categories, allowing the profiles to be managed as a single unit.
"Role-based access control (RBAC) has become an important initiative for many organizations," says Robin Tatam, CISM and Director of Security Technologies, HelpSystems. "Centrally managing and auditing the capability of profiles across multiple partitions throughout their lifecycle saves significant time and cost compared to manual profile management.
"Ensuring users have only the capabilities that they require is also a common regulatory mandate. If there are a large number of servers or partitions—or both—then PowerAdmin is a great solution," continues Tatam.
Customers already using PowerAdmin can upgrade to this new version to access the new enhancements. HelpSystems also offers a free, 30-day trial of PowerTech PowerAdmin, which includes full product access and free support.
