Shield Advanced Solutions (Canada) Ltd. has announced an improved V5.1 of JobQGenie, the batch monitoring and job recovery application for the IBM i operating system.
Initially released in 1999, the product complements any high availability product providing job-to-data mapping, the company says.
JobQGenie provides job queue content tracking using the latest IBM technology. High availability software can replicate the job queue object but does not replicate the content of the job queues. In the event of a system failure JobQGenie allows the user to see the state of the job queue and its contents as well as the associated data updates generated by those jobs. This allows the system administrator to take corrective actions before resubmitting jobs to the job queue.
This major new development was initiated when one of Shield's clients running JobQGenie experienced some data loss. The customer environment was extremely complex and intensive, running many thousands of jobs per hour. Shield worked with the customer, testing the new version thoroughly within the customer environment.
Says Chris Hird, president of Shield Advanced Solutions, "Everyone now benefits from the outcome of this recent project. These development enhancements provide significant product improvements to JobQGenie using the new collection engine."
JobQGenie V5R1 provides the following enhancements and benefits:
· New, more efficient data collection engine
· Better, and more detailed information about jobs
· Streamlined interfaces
· Ease-of-use improvements
· Reduced overhead
