Software developer mrc announces the release of their email integration enhancement within m-Power. m-Power is software that rapidly creates web applications such as report-writing, Business Intelligence, executive dashboards, e-commerce, customer portals, and mobile applications to name a few.

This new enhancement brings full email integration to m-Power applications. It lets users build applications that monitor specified email accounts for new messages, and then extract all or part of the email data into a database.

Once the email data is extracted to the database, developers can create any type of application over that data, or integrate the email data into current applications. While this creates limitless options, here are a few applications made possible with this feature:

  • Automated helpdesk applications
This new feature lets m-Power users build helpdesk applications that monitor the company's helpdesk email account for incoming messages. Upon receiving a new customer request via email, the application can automatically create a new help ticket and alert the helpdesk staff to the new request.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications
This new capability also lets m-Power users create CRM applications that track all interaction with customers/prospects. The CRM applications built with m-Power can now automatically retrieve and embed email correspondence for each customer/prospect.
  • Automated Workflow Applications
Combined with m-Power's event-triggered messaging feature, email integration lets developers create automated workflow applications. For example, typical workflow applications (like a purchase approval app) require user interaction. While the application automatically notifies the manager that an approval is needed, managers must access the application to approve or reject a request. Email integration eliminates this step. Using email integration, managers could accept/reject approval requests with a simple email reply of "accept" or "reject".
  • Much, much more...
There's really no end to the different ways m-Power developers can use this feature. They can integrate email messages into customer listing applications, project management applications, order entry apps, and much more.

"This new enhancement opens up a whole new world of possibilities," says Tyler Wassell, mrc's Manager of Software Development. "m-Power users can now use email data in any application, or even as triggers for application events. I can't even begin to imagine all of the ways our customers will utilize this new feature."

mrc's development tool suite, m-Power, is used to create business applications and can run on any platform that supports Java (e.g. OS/400, Linux, Unix, and Windows). Applications access DB2/400, Oracle, MySQL and MSSQL, or any combination thereof. Using these development tools, users create an endless variety of Java-based business applications from simple queries to reports, to complex custom enterprise systems and dashboards. mrc was a recipient of the 2004 Apex Award for application development, is a long-time IBM Business Partner, and has been producing award-winning development software since 1981.
