CS Group Transoft, a leader in helping companies evolve their existing legacy applications, has announced its partnership with SYKORA-ML GmbH to distribute ML-iMPACT in North America and the United Kingdom. ML-iMPACT provides an automated conversion from IBM iSeries and System i RPG applications to Microsoft .NET.

Driven by what the company called a lack of skilled resources, reduced cost of ownership, and platform standardization, many iSeries users are investigating the options available to take their RPG applications to a more standard architecture, the company claimed.

CS Group Transoft has more than 20 years experience in providing legacy modernization solutions, the company says. Its proven methodology coupled with a wide variety of modernization products has allowed CS Group Transoft to address the evolution of multiple legacy platforms and applications.

ML-iMPACT is the result of a progressive development of iSeries modernization tools by a German company, SYKORA-ML. With several successful conversions completed in Europe, ML-iMPACT provides an automated means of converting RPG and CL code to C#, and DB2/400 data to Microsoft SQL Server.

Paul Holland, CS Group Transoft chief executive officer said, "This partnership is good news for iSeries and System i users. The combination of the conversion power of ML-iMPACT and the modernization experience of CS Group Transoft means that iSeries users are no longer presented with confusing, piecemeal, 'do-it-yourself' modernization options. The CS Group Transoft-SYKORA solution provides iSeries customers with a project-based approach to moving applications to Microsoft .NET, ensuring that all aspects of the modernization project are understood, planned for, and addressed in the conversion process."

"We are pleased to see continued industry support for the Microsoft .NET platform," said Spyros Sakellariadis, director, Midrange Alliance Program at Microsoft Corp. "CS Group Transoft is bringing its industry expertise to bear on the IBM System i marketplace, providing customers with the option of Microsoft Windows as a cost-effective platform for modernizing their legacy environments."

Thomas Sykora, chief executive of SYKORA-ML commented, "We chose CS Group Transoft as our US partner because of their vast experience and great reputation in the US and UK application modernization markets. We are already seeing the benefits of the partnership, with the two companies working closely to provide the very best modernization solution to iSeries users."
