New module is the latest addition in the FlexTools family of products.
DRV Technologies, developer of SpoolFlex report management and FormFlex electronic forms software, has announced the release of a new module called MessageFlex to oversee message queues.
The IBM System i does a great job telling users how it is performing with system messages providing someone is there to monitor them. With economic pressures streamlining IT staffs, however, having people available to monitor a console for those messages is a luxury some companies just don’t have.
DRV MessageFlex monitors IBM i message queues for system and program messages, then sends notifications by email, text message, or instant message in real time.
“MessageFlex provides system administrators with proactive system management instantly as these messages appear, avoiding disaster before it happens” said Richard Voss, president of DRV Technologies. “With this kind of instant notification, you will be able to find bugs before your users do.”
“For example,” says Voss, “if you have set up a nightly backup routine for your IBM i, and it fails, maybe because you have a bad tape, wouldn’t it be better to know about it and fix it immediately, rather than having to re-run the backup in the morning delaying all of your users activities until it completes?”
Some of the Features of MessageFlex include:
- Ability to monitor any number of message queues in real time
- Monitor for any message ID, message text, or message type, or from a specific job or all jobs
- Immediate message notification sent by email, text message, or instant message
- Attach document to email notifications, such as a “how-to” document to fix the problem
- Send notifications to individuals or a group
The Benefits of MessageFlex include:
- Maintain real-time control over the entire system around the clock.
- Prevent disasters by automatically escalating response to critical messages and addressing issues before they become operational problems.
- Reduce failed job execution due to unexpected issues in job stream.
- Improve the IT department’s effectiveness resolving issues before users encounter them.
- Reduce costs associated when users are unable to sign on if nightly jobs did not complete on time.
- Maximize IT resources and hours by reducing the need for live personnel to monitor low priority messages.
By reducing downtime scenarios, MessageFlex will significantly increase productivity and make better use of streamlined resources, says Voss. For more information, visit www.drvtech.com call 678-417-1521, or email
