MicroNet Technology will soon announce the latest in its line of SMB NAS solutions, the PlatinumNAS Plus, combining best-in-class NAS file serving performance with an integrated iTunes server to provide a high-performance, easy-to-use, centralized repository capable of storing up to 4 terabytes of data, video and music files.
With the addition of embedded iTunes server software, MicroNet provides a turnkey SMB NAS solution that allows all Windows and Macintosh network users to easily access and view digital content, including product and company training videos, podcasts and other digital media. Smaller customers will appreciate the simplicity with which they can now store and share digital video and MP3 content from a central, consolidated server instead of trying to locate files stored on individual PCs or struggling with the frustrations of a peer-to-peer networks when the user with the targeted files logs off the network
The PlatinumNAS Plus is a next-generation NAS solution that integrates several key technologies to simplify the storage, management and sharing of all types of digital content for SMB and other customers. By consolidating file and digital media services into a single, easy-to-use, Web-based management utility it has never been easier for SMB customers to ensure that their critical data files are protected and highly-available to all network clients.
MicroNet's latest NAS innovation is fully functional media server that is Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-compliant. The iTunes functionality enables digital music and video content purchased from Apple's iTunes Storeùas well as digital photosùto be shared to consumer digital televisions and audio equipment via AppleTV. And with the addition of a wireless router to the network, iTunes content can be sent over a Wi-Fi connection to iTunes-enabled portable media players, such as Apple's new iPhone.
MicroNet's new PlatinumNAS Plus leverages the power of an Intel IOP RISC network processor and four independent SATA drive channels to deliver up to a 400 percent improvement in file serving performance compared to competitive SMB NAS products. The zero downtime design is based on four fully hot-swappable SATA disk drives with automatic RAID set rebuild and background RAID creation. The advanced RAID controller in the Platinum NAS Plus supports RAID 0, 5 and JBOD across two Gigabit Ethernet connections.
In addition to its market leading performance, the PlatinumNAS Plus is one of the "greenest" NAS products on the market with an energy-efficient design that consumes 35 percent less power than a conventional file server.
The performance of the PlatinumNAS Plus is complemented with versatility, including dual USB 2.0 expansion slots, enabling fast and easy capacity scalability with the addition of external USB-based storage such as MicroNet's Platinum, MegaDisk or Fantom Drives products. Simply plugging in any of those USB devices makes the additional storage capacity available as a network resource.
The PlatinumNAS Plus is part of MicroNet's broad Platinum Series product line that also features Platinum RAID, and the Platinum External hard disk drives. All Platinum Series storage products feature a portable and lightweight aluminum design that is both stylish and flexible. MicroNet Platinum products are available from MicroNet, authorized VARs, and catalogue resellers worldwide, and are distributed through Ingram Micro.
