IBM Cloud Object Storage System HDD features deliver additional storage capacities for IBM Cloud Object Storage Slicestors. 

IBM® Cloud Object Storage System hardware is comprised of the following components:

  • IBM Cloud Storage System Manager
  • IBM Cloud Storage System Accesser®
  • IBM Cloud Storage System Slicestor®

These servers are all based on industry-standard, x86 bare-metal hardware. The servers have been certified to perform their functions appropriately.

IBM Cloud Storage System Manager is an out-of-band component, meaning that it is important in setting up, provisioning, managing, and monitoring the system, but does not have active participation in the ingress, writing, or reading of the data. The manager delivers the following functions:

  • Fault management
  • Reporting
  • Provisioning
  • Performance monitoring
  • Storage configuration

IBM Cloud Storage System Accesser is a stateless component that delivers the following functions:

  • Slices data
  • Disperses data
  • Retrieves data

IBM Cloud Storage System Slicestor delivers the following functions:

  • Storage for slices
  • Rebuilds slices

Overview

The following HDD options are available for ordering on IBM Cloud Object Storage Slicestor models S01, S02, and S03:

  • 4 TB 7.2K 3.5-inch HDD Enterprise (feature code AJ0Y)
  • 6 TB 7.2K 3.5-inch HDD Enterprise (feature code AJ0Z)
  • 8 TB 7.2K 3.5-inch HDD Enterprise (feature code AJ10)
  • 10 TB 7.2K 3.5-inch HDD Enterprise (feature code AJ11)

In addition, a short-range 40 GbE SFP+ (feature code AJ16) is available for ordering on IBM Cloud Object Storage Accesser models A00, A01, and A02, and IBM Cloud Object Storage Slicestor models S01 and S02.
