Vice President Sam Mikhail says the new MICR printer prints at speeds of up to 45 pages per minute at 1200x1200 dpi resolution. The printer provides enhanced access, alert, and operator controls. Shipping is scheduled for this month with single unit prices beginning at $2,995, the company said.
"This new check and financial document printer's speed is 25 percent faster than our former fastest offering," Mikhail said. "It installs easily, works hard and trouble-free for long stretches with little tending, and is configurable to suit check-printing deployment ranges from medium volumes to very high, continuous operations."
The new printer is being released in two versions: the certified, dedicated MICR-only version, and the secure version, which features a three-position key lock that allows switching between MICR printing and conventional laser printing. It also disables printing altogether in the OFF position. The secure version is suitable for companies interested in implementing physical security over the check printing process and looking for the highest level of security features available.
Key features of the Xerox Phaser 4510 MICR printer solution from ACOM include:
- Fastest print speeds in its workgroup printer class; eight-second first-page out.
- Encryption of print files over IPP and/or 802.1x wired network.
- Security-code access to printer operations.
- Embedded Web page for remote configuration and management.
- Supply-level alerts (paper, toner) on printer panel, PC screen, embedded Web page.
- Network ready, with automated installation support.
- MICR-only or multi-mode versions.
- 700 sheet total input (two trays) capacity with two additional 550 sheet trays optional.
- Auto-sensing of paper size and type.
- 533 MHz processor, 512 MB maximum RAM, optional 40 MB hard drive.
- Enhanced jam-resistant pick-and-feed operation.
- Monthly duty cycle up to 200,000 prints.
- Optional duplex printing.
For added security, a removable security card option is available with both versions of the 4510 printer. The security card stores authorized signatures and the MICR font and when this option is deployed users cannot print valid checks unless the card is inserted. It provides great control over the check printing process and acts as an effective deterrent against check fraud.
ACOM re-engineers Xerox printers to withstand the rigors of MICR printing in its own laboratories with the support of Xerox engineering personnel, concurrently developing MICR toner to the exact requirements of the specific printer model. Its toners meet or exceed the quality standards for adherence and reliability set by the American Bankers Association (ABA) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
In addition to the MICR printers, ACOM also offers a complete line of secure payment software that is available in native System i and Windows versions for companies looking for a turnkey laser check printing solution.
