Attachmate Corporation has announced the general availability of Reflection for IBM 2007, its next generation, built-for-Windows Vista terminal emulation solution. Reflection for IBM 2007 is certified for Windows Vista and takes advantage of multiple enhancements found in Microsoft Corp.’s newest operating system.

Combining the comprehensive productivity and security feature sets found in Attachmate’s existing EXTRA!, Reflection, and INFOConnect host access offerings, Reflection for IBM 2007 strengthens mainframe security, maximizes IT flexibility, and provides a set of features that significantly boost user productivity, as verified by a recent study conducted by The Tolly Group.

In addition to being developed specifically for the Windows Vista operating system, Reflection for IBM 2007 has attained the Certified for Windows Vista software logo, assuring customers that the product takes full advantage of the enhanced security, manageability and productivity features found within Windows Vista. Additionally, Reflection for IBM 2007 provides support for Windows XP and the Microsoft 2007 Office system.

"Microsoft is pleased that Attachmate has earned the Certified for Windows Vista software logo for Reflection for IBM 2007,” said Justin Jed, group product manager of Windows Client Product Management at Microsoft Corp. “This highlights Attachmate’s commitment to providing its customers with higher quality applications that deliver a more secure, reliable and compatible experience with Windows Vista."

Reflection for IBM 2007 is Attachmate’s second terminal emulation offering to carry the Certified for Windows Vista software logo, following the October 2006 certification of EXTRA! X-treme 9.0. Further demonstrating its commitment to the Microsoft platform, EXTRA! X-treme 9.0 was the first software application to be certified for Windows Vista. Support and multiple certifications for Windows Vista serve to enhance Attachmate’s entire host access product family, including Reflection, EXTRA! and INFOConnect, helping mutual customers maximize the value of their legacy assets to drive business productivity and lower total cost of ownership.

Now available, Reflection for IBM 2007 maximizes IT flexibility allowing for interoperability with other IT technologies such as Windows Vista, the 2007 Microsoft Office system, LDAP Directory Services (including Microsoft Active Directory), Microsoft Group Policy, IPv6, Microsoft Terminal Server and Citrix environments, and Public Key Infrastructures (PKI).

Boosting End-User Productivity

Reflection for IBM offers multiple features and tools designed to increase and improve end-user productivity.

Reflection for IBM 2007 includes tools that bring modern productivity enhancements to traditional green-screen host applications, including spell check, screen history, auto complete, auto expand, scratch pad and recent typing.

Increasing users' ability to find and share information, Reflection for IBM 2007 supports tight integration with the Microsoft Office 2007 applications.

Support for the new Microsoft Office Fluent user interface, used under license from Microsoft, allows Reflection for IBM 2007 users to work within a familiar Microsoft Office environment resulting in higher productivity. Alternatively, administrators can opt for a "Classic" interface within Reflection.

A recent study conducted by independent testing firm The Tolly Group concluded that Reflection for IBM 2007 increases user productivity up to five times over competing products. Additionally, The Tolly Group determined that Reflection for IBM 2007 delivers a broader user productivity feature set, with richer capabilities.
