VSSA (Valid Secure System Authentication), an enterprise solution for biometric authentication, has received validations for IBM Tivoli and SOA, has introduced an automated password service, and now integrates with Windows active directory logons, according to developer Valid Technologies. VSSA enables network logons, legacy applications, and transactions with highly secure implementations of biometric user authentication.

Integration of VSSA into Tivoli Access Manager provides enterprise computing with strong, secure ôtouch-of-a-fingerö biometric user authentication that extends to virtually every IT resource throughout the enterprise, the company said. VSSA works with applications running on both IBM and non-IBM platforms and can support from 100 to hundreds of thousands of users on a single system. Banking, healthcare, and other industries with security and regulatory concerns can deploy VSSA to meet requirements of GLBA, Basel II, SOX, HIPAA, the Patriot Act. All solutions are specifically designed to meet enterprise-computing needs for security, stability, scale, interoperability, and flexibility, the company said.

ôEnterprise computing has an exciting new benefit that it can leverage through the latest integration,ö said Greg Faust, Valid Technologies CEO. ôThe combination of Tivoli best of breed enterprise security and management control with VSSA best of breed biometric authentication provides customers with tremendous competitive advantages - better security, productivity, and business efficiencies,ö he said.

VSSA integrates with logons, applications, and transactions across multiple computing platforms to deliver a uniform process for user authentication throughout the enterprise. Virtually every information resource, from Windows domain logons to legacy "green-screen" applications, benefit from the convenience and reliability of fingerprint biometrics plus the security and control of an enterprise authentication solution, the company said.

ôA secure, consistent, and manageable foundation for user authentication is essential if the enterprise is to stay compliant and competitive said,ö Faust. VSSA can support from 100 to hundreds of thousands of users on a single system. Banking, Healthcare, and other industries with security and regulatory concerns can deploy VSSA to meet mew privacy and security requirements.

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a business-centric IT architectural approach that supports integrating the business as linked, repeatable tasks, or services. SOA helps users build composite applications that draw upon functionality from multiple sources within and beyond the enterprise to support horizontal business. (For more information, visit www.ibm.com/soa).

VSSA Managed Domain Signon for the Windows active directory and the VSSA Password Automation Service make it easy to add touch-of-a-finger user biometric authentication to existing domain logons. Customers may choose to combine VSSA biometrics with a password or eliminate passwords altogether through the VSSA Password Automation Service. Both solutions integrate at the domain controller level to deliver enterprise-class security and efficiency. VSSA verifies user biometric credentials on a secure server û not the PC or domain server û that may be located anywhere on the internal or external network that is accessible by TCP/IP communications. Users can be located anywhere on the network, or access their domain by VPN or other external connection. Windows remote desktop technologies are also supported.

VSSA Managed Domain Signon for Windows Active Directory and the VSSA Password Automation Service are available for immediate delivery.

About Valid Technologies and VSSA
