New foundation kicks off with grants earmarked to support user groups.
Maxava, a global provider of IBM i high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) software, has announced the launch of the Maxava iFoundation. The foundation has been established specifically to provide financial assistance to initiatives and organizations working to grow and strengthen the IBM i community. Initial funding of $50,000 has been provided by Maxava to allow the foundation to immediately offer support grants to qualifying organizations.
"As a company fully focused on the IBM i platform, Maxava recognizes the role of a strong, IBM i community," said Allan Campbell, CEO of Maxava. "Like many others we are very enthusiastic about promoting the '400 bloodline.' While there are some good initiatives in the pipeline that we support, we feel strongly that some immediate action is needed to start delivering results straight away. For us, an obvious place to help is in providing support to those organizations that are already in place. These groups have carried the flag and shown commitment and expertise in promoting the IBM i over many years and we believe their survival and vibrancy is key to spreading the message," he said.
Maxava iFoundation has announced that it will offer grants to interest groups for the general promotion and free exchange of knowledge, ideas, and skills related to IBM i. Applications for grants are welcomed from any not-for-profit organization helping to enhance the broader IBM i community in any part of the world.
"We hope to be able to help a range of IBM i supportive activities including ISV and local and national user organizations, as well as related educational initiatives," said Campbell.
