inFORM Decisions, a leading provider of document automation and electronic banking solutions, announced it has joined with The Arbor Day Foundation in its Gift of Trees Program to plant 10 new trees each time inFORM Decisions concludes a sale of its document automation or banking software. The program will run through the remainder of 2009.

InFORM Decision's commitment to The Arbor Day Foundation expands upon its ongoing efforts to take steps to protect U.S. forests, the company said. For the past year, inFORM Decisions has included the message of going green in its articles, white papers, and advertising. With this new Gift of Trees Program, the company is ratcheting up its commitment to help restore scarce forest resources and recognize organizations that are taking steps to go paperless.

"We reviewed a number of different programs and decided upon the Arbor Day Foundation as the best one for us and our customers," said Orlando Ferrer, inFORM Decision's vice president of operations. "The affiliate program is tied in to the fact our software gives people the ability to go paperless, and the Arbor Day folks are out there replenishing the trees. We thought it was a good fit," he said.

Ferrer notes that companies that switch to an IBM i server-based paperless document automation solution can easily save tens of thousands of dollars in paper costs, realize a complete return on their investment--generally in a matter of months or even weeks--and can save thousands of trees in the process.

inFORM Decisions was founded in 1994 to provide powerful utility solutions to address the growing need to efficiently manage paper workloads in all aspects of the enterprise. Benefits of saving time, money and trees have been realized by inFORM Decisions and its hundreds of customers around the world. Managing custom electronic forms and reports, imaging documents, and MICR check-printing have all generated strong consumer interest on the IT landscape, particularly during the current economic downturn, the company says.

Dan Forster, president of inFORM Decisions said, "Our solutions for eliminating office paperwork result in significant savings for the enterprise and relieve pressure on old growth forests that have been called the lungs of our planet because they convert carbon dioxide back into oxygen. Total global forests are estimated to have originally covered 15 billion acres and that has shrunk to nine billion acres today. We all need to do whatever is possible to reverse that trend." The donations to the Arbor Day Foundation will help the organization pay for planting trees in areas of North America that have been ravaged by recent wild fires, he said.

Forster notes that the company's Green Policy includes a statement in support of leading tree-conservation organizations. inFORM's IFD Green Page provides many links to information to help organizations cut the use of paper and power to reduce operating costs and protect the environment.

inFORM Decisions provides the following paper-saving products within its two families of solutions to eliminate--or make more secure--back-office paperwork:
