Rainbow Solutions B.V., a longtime Netherlands-based reseller partner of ACOM Solutions, Inc., has expanded its relationship with ACOM by adding the company's EZContentManager (EZCM) document management system to its product portfolio.
EZContentManager is a web-based content and document management system that allows organizations to centralize corporate files of any type in a single password-secured data repository with browser-driven, on-board retrieval and distribution engines providing fast and convenient searching and management.
According to Rainbow Solutions Account Manager Wim Derks, Rainbow Solutions' EZCM initiative commenced in early 2007 and the company has logged two installed sales and has two more in process. About 10 more are in various stages of negotiation, he said.
"EZContentManager presents Rainbow Solutions and its customers with significant new opportunities," Derks said. "The concept of centralized document management has been well-received in Europe and there are a number of strong competitors in our market. As an open, Web-based document management solution, EZContentManager competes well. It fits nicely with our client base, offering the advantages of reasonable pricing, quick and easy installation, only minor training requirements, and a great deal of functionality for the price."
The solution interfaces directly with ACOM's EZeDocs document output management solution, which Rainbow Solutions has represented in Europe for more than 10 years, allowing user companies to attach metadata and store documents automatically as they are generated. Documents from external sources can be scanned into the system with the metadata attached automatically in the scanning process. Documents can then be retrieved either by metadata or under full-text search.
"The fact that it is a platform-agnostic and standards-based, rather than a proprietary system, eliminates data format problems while enabling people to use it intuitively," Derks said. "Almost everyone is comfortable with the Google-like interface that is used to access documents and to manage the solution. Standards-based architecture components such as the SQL data repository help control costs and permit rapid installation, fast implementation, and fast document import."
Key elements of the EZContentManager solution include, among others:

  • Browser-based operation (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox)
  • Centralized SQL document repository
  • Automated capture/indexing/importing of documents through ODBC
  • Support for Java 6.0 and for Tomcat 5.5
  • Flexible document retention capabilities
  • Multi-level password security
  • Document distribution by laser printing, fax/email, conversion to other formats (e.g. PDF)
  • Process manager for automating internal tasks (e.g. routing/approval)
  • Definable version controls.

"EZContentManager is part of an efficiency wave that is sweeping today's business," said
ACOM Vice President James R. Scott. "It eliminates remote, often unknown data silos and makes all corporate information readily available to people who need it. Because it integrates directly with EZeDocs, it is an ideal addition to computing environments that Rainbow Solutions serves. Companies can expect improved customer service, more efficient management, and more effective compliance with industry and government requirements. We are delighted that Rainbow Solutions has elected to take this system into the European market."
