Recession pricing: $1,300 buys three days of training, a three-night hotel stay, and a half dozen meals, while early-bird discounts remain available.
System i Developer, the consortium of four top educators on IBM i development technologies, has announced that its next RPG & DB2 Summit conference will take place October 13-15, 2009, at the Sofitel in Minneapolis. In a year that finds many conference organizers cutting back, System i Developer plans a full conference program of four tracks spanning three full days, plus a fourth day of optional Headstart Seminars. The curriculum focuses exclusively on topics of interest to RPG and DB2 development professionals.
Designed for maximum value, the October 2009 Summit offers a compelling combination of expert instructors, relevant topics and affordable rates for both registration and hotel.
System i Developer partners Susan Gantner, Jon Paris, Paul Tuohy and Skip Marchesani host the RPG & DB2 Summit and lead the speaker lineup, which is rounded out by experts Scott Klement, Barbara Morris, Mike Cain, Kent Milligan, Bruce Vining and Aaron Bartell.
“Once again, we’re fortunate to have our favorite gurus working with us,” declares Jon Paris. “Each of these individuals adds a unique dimension to the Summit, and we have a great time together. The dynamics create a fantastic environment for teaching and for learning.
“With many IT departments facing budget and staff cuts, it is even more critical for developers to stay up-to-date and improve their personal productivity. We try to do our part by inviting the best speakers in the industry and by making the Summit affordable.”
To ensure that the conference remains affordable, System i Developer is holding early registration rates at $995 ($895 for Alumni) through August 31. These are the same early rates established with its inaugural event in March 2007, and they include breakfast and lunch each conference day plus a welcome banquet on the first night. The Midwest location keeps the event within driving distance or a short flight for a number of System i professionals.
In addition, the group negotiated a special room package with the Sofitel in Minneapolis. “The Sofitel is one of the nicest venues we’ve used, and our attendees will have excellent accommodations at just $99 per night, with complimentary Internet access, parking and shuttle service from the airport,” says Susan Gantner. “It’s one of the best hotel values we’ve seen in all of our years speaking at conferences.
“We’ve received inquiries from several people whose budgets were frozen earlier in the year, but who are now able to schedule training. It’s important to us to make sure that developers in this situation get the training they need.”
Significantly updated for 2009, the RPG & DB2 Summit agenda covers practical, in-depth, use-it-today tips and techniques on topics ranging from RPG IV to SQL to modernizing program architecture as well as user interfaces.
In addition, four optional half-day Headstart Seminars on Monday, October 12, offer attendees an opportunity to focus on specific topics prior to attending the conference. For the October event, topics include SQL, PHP, Subprocedures and Service Programs, and HTML/Javascript/CSS for RPG developers. Attendees can add seminars to their conference registration at $215 for one seminar, or $295 for two.
The RPG & DB2 Summit is sponsored by leading media organizations.
