System i Developer announces a new Hands-On SQL Headstart Workshop for the next RPG & DB2 Summit, which will take place March 22-24 at the Embassy Suites Outdoor World in Dallas. In this new 8-hour workshop, SQL expert Paul Tuohy will focus on how and when to use specific SQL functionality to extend or simplify business applications written in RPG.
“At this point most RPGers understand that SQL is an essential skill,” explains Tuohy, a partner at System i Developer. “They have some familiarity with basic SQL statements and they know that there are a thousand cool things they can do with it. Now the critical need is to improve proficiency and become more comfortable actually using SQL in their day-to-day work. We wanted to make this new workshop hands-on to give RPGers a chance to practice real-world usage as they expand their knowledge. It will also give them a better base of understanding when we get into the details of more advanced SQL topics within the Summit conference.”
A total of three Headstart Workshops will take place on Monday, March 21 in conjunction with the RPG & DB2 Summit. Other Headstart topics include Hands-On RSE/RDi with Susan Gantner and Hands-On PHP with Mike Pavlak.
“SQL is not the only high-demand topic for training that we see. Interest in PHP, web services, node.js, free form RPG, JSON is all growing. With each conference it gets more and more challenging to fit in everything that we think people need to know,” says Tuohy. Tuohy and partners Susan Gantner and Jon Paris have published a partial list of sessions for the spring 2016 RPG & DB2 Summit and will add more sessions in the coming months.
Online registration for the 3-day Summit conference and the 1-day Headstart Workshops opens Tuesday, December 15 on the System i Developer website.
