LPI Hosts Exam Labs at Ohio LinuxFest 2012

The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization, will offer all LPIC exams at the Ohio LinuxFest 2012 (Columbus, Ohio) on Sunday, September 30, 2012. LPI will also present on the subject of "Catching the Wave of Open Source Careers" during OLF's Career Track .

"Linux and Open Source jobs are rapidly growing around the world. This is due to the growing adoption of FOSS worldwide but also to the human resource and technology needs of Big Data and the Cloud. This is our seventh year of supporting OLF and we are once again happy to offer our popular exam labs at this important community event. We will also report on upcoming initiatives at LPI that will address the expanding workforce development of Linux and Open Source professionals," said Jim Lacey, president and CEO of LPI.

LPI is offering LPIC exams at a promotional rate of $99 per exam--except for LPI-301 which will be $219. Details about the different exams are available on the LPI certification web page (http://www.lpi.org/linux-certifications).

In addition, for the first time in North America, LPI will be offering its Linux Essentials exam at the promotional price of $65. For more information on the Linux Essentials program please see: http://www.lpi.org/linux-certifications/introductory-programs

Exams will be offered at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 30th at a location TBA. To ensure exam availability please register in advance at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and indicate preferred exam(s) and time slot(s).

To participate in the exam labs you must obtain an LPI ID at LPI's registration area: http://www.lpi.org/register

On the day of the exam, candidates may make payment for their exams by cheque 15 minutes prior to the exam lab. Otherwise payment can be made in advance via Paypal. Each exam takes approximately 90 minutes to complete.

Exam candidates should bring their LPI ID and a government issued photo identification to the exam lab.

In addition, as part of their OLF Institute, the Ohio LinuxFest is proud to again offer the popular LPIC-1 cram session by D.L. Corbet & Associates. The LPIC-1 cram session assists candidates in preparing for the LPIC 101 and 102 exams and is available on Friday, September 28, 2012. Registration for the OLF Institute is available with the OLF "Professional Package," which costs $350. The "Professional Package" does not include exam fees. Ross Brunson, LPI's Director of Member Services will present on the subject of "Catching the Wave of Open Source Careers". This presentation will describe how Linux and other Open Source technologies have clearly moved beyond the "Early Adopters" to the "Early Majority" phase, leading to increased demand for IT professionals with these skill sets. The information session will provide examples from around the world of the growing demand for Linux/OSS professionals, tips for enhancing career prospects, and a surf board/tool kit that will enable IT professionals to ride the "big wave" of Linux/Open Source adoption.

LPI will also host an information booth during OLF and Medina Dupuis, LPI's Project Manager, will present on the subject of "Bringing Linux Essentials to the Classroom" at OLF's Open Source Solutions Stage.
