Part of the COMMON Certification Program, the exam will be available for the first time at the COMMON Annual Meeting and Exposition in Anaheim May 6-9.
COMMON today formally launched a brand new credential as part of its COMMON Certification Program—COMMON Certified Application Developer—ILE RPG on IBM i on Power. After assessing, and ultimately discovering, need within the community for an updated certification of skill in the RPG programming language, COMMON had an obligation to meet the wishes of its membership and undertook the development of this ILE (Integrated Language Environment) RPG certification. Developed by industry-recognized volunteer subject matter experts, including Scott Klement, Vern Hamberg, Ted Holt, Birgitta Hauser, Laura Ubelhor and Jim Buck, this new credential further provides depth to the COMMON Certification Program and meets a need of the COMMON membership. Working with an aggressive timeline, the team sought to finish their work quickly so as not to miss an opportunity to debut the exam at the upcoming COMMON 2012 Annual Meeting and Exposition in Anaheim, California, the world’s largest gathering of the Power Systems user community.
"The new ILE RPG credential came out of the membership telling COMMON about its needs and through hard work by selfless volunteers, we were able to meet those needs," said Randy Dufault, chair, COMMON Certification Committee. "This new exam will help us branch out further with our Certification Program and now adds a technical certification into the mix, complementing our Associate and Professional Business Computing credentials."
