Vienna is a top international meeting destination, hosting over 2,000 national and international scientific meetings each year. There are many reasons to visit Vienna, and the city is world famous for its imperial heritage—Schönbrunn Palace, the Belvedere, and the Hofburg. The capital scores high marks thanks to its first-rate musical and cultural attractions at concert halls, museums, and theaters, from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein to the acclaimed Museum of Fine Arts and the State Opera House. Outdoors, the city is beautiful as well. Over half the city is made up of green space, including parks and gardens, the Vienna Woods, and the wetlands of the Donau Auen National Park.

Vienna is also a byword for epicurean enjoyment with centuries of traditions shaping its coffee houses and Heuriger wine taverns. The bistro, wine tavern, and cafe are the pillars of Vienna’s culture of varietal pleasures surrounding food. Viennese cuisine is the only type of cooking in the world that is named after a city. The Viennese coffee houses are known around the globe for their informal pleasantness is an oasis of gemütlichkeit—the legendary Viennese coziness. Vienna is also the only metropolis in the world that grows enough wine within city limits to be worth mentioning.

There are at least six reasons to attend the CEC2012 in Vienna this summer:

  • High level Congress with excellent speakers from around the world
  • Best and most effective way to increase one's technical knowledge
