Talend, the first provider of open source data integration software, today announced the availability of Talend Open Studio version 2.2, the company’s flagship open source data integration solution. In tandem, Talend is releasing Activity Monitoring Console /Personal Edition, delivering the benefit of a single console for all integration jobs. The release of the new and updated applications comes at the one year anniversary of the first release of Talend Open Studio, which has been downloaded more than 150,000 times.

Talend Open Studio version 2.2 provides support for event-based action triggering, as well as SOA functionality enabling users to expose data integration processes as Web Services. Additionally, the updated release of Talend Open Studio is based on the most recent version of Eclipse (version 3.3), allowing companies to benefit from improvements such as support for Windows Vista.

With over 150 native connectors available, Talend Open Studio is the most robust and easy-to-use data integration offering on the market. Incorporated in the version 2.2 release are additional specialized connectors giving customers more options, capabilities and power. New connectors provided include, slowly changing dimensions for MySQL, Oracle, Ingres, MS SQL Server, DB2, and Sybase (with support for types 1, 2 and 3), support for stored procedures in Oracle, MS SQL Server, Ingres, MySQL, DB2, as well as native support for very large databases such as Teradata or platforms such as IBM’s System i (formerly known as AS/400 and iSeries).

"When managing data that is constantly changing, and making informed decisions based on the accuracy of that data, it is imperative for our data integration solutions to be able to connect to a broad number of data sources and systems,” said Philippe Bobo, director of software and information systems at ETAI, the leading provider of technical information for the automotive, manufacturing and retail industries. “For a company like ours, that regularly integrates data for 50,000 different types of vehicles, 500,000 references for manufacturer parts, 300,000 images and 30 million links between parts and vehicles, all from varying databases and applications, Talend Open Studio’s proven data integration capabilities enable us to prevent inaccuracies and ensure our clients and their customers are receiving the most up-to-date and accurate information."

Alongside the availability of Talend Open Studio version 2.2, Talend is also releasing Activity Monitoring Console /Personal Edition. With the capability to monitor the distributed execution of all data integration jobs from one centralized tool, the Activity Monitoring Console enables users to gather execution data from local and remote systems simultaneously. It provides notifications upon failure or error as well as the ability to analyze statistics and trends and detect potential execution bottlenecks before they occur.

"Over 150,000 users have downloaded Talend Open Studio since its launch last year, a testament to the appeal of an open source alternative to proprietary data integration offerings,” said Bertrand Diard, co-founder and CEO of Talend. “With each new version, we incorporate the feedback provided by a numerous and active user community, in order to further enhance performance, usability and accuracy. Our commitment to both innovation and our users remains unwavering, especially in light of the recent consolidation in the data integration space that reduces the number of independent solutions available on the market, and further emphasizes the value of open source."
