ACOM Solutions, Inc. has introduced a SAP-specific implementation toolkit for its NET-compliant EZConnect EDI and XML data translation and trading partner management solution that speeds and simplifies mapping of electronic trading partner documents for exchange between the SAP software environment and software systems used by customers or vendors, it was announced today by Mark Firmin, ACOM senior vice president of Marketing and Product Management.
The toolkit provides pre-configured XML document maps for widely used SAP trading partner documents, including purchase orders and invoices, as well as a means for users with limited technology skills to create additional trading partner documents quickly and easily.
"In the native SAP environment, trading partner document exchanges typically are accomplished using iDocs, or Intermediate Documents, which provide intermediate storage of e-business documents such as purchase orders, invoices, advance ship notices and others," Firmin said. "Mapping these documents can be complex and time-consuming, requiring extensive knowledge of the German mnemonics on which the system is based, as well as on how EDI documents are adapted to the iDoc structure, including such things as non-ANSI standard locations of document elements."
Conversely, Firmin said, ACOM's EZConnect SAP EDI-XML implementation toolkit allows users to import an iDoc schema and convert it to an XML template for the desired document - a purchase order, invoice or advance ship notice, for example. Then, with drag-and-drop entry of the trading partner information into the XML document template map, the new document is mapped and ready to use.
The process essentially bypasses the Intermediate Document stage, proceeding directly to the exchange of active electronic trading partner documents between SAP R/3 and other business management software. Besides expediting the launch of new trading partner relationships, the semi-automated implementation toolkit virtually eliminates the need to deploy expensive in-house or contract programming resources as well as minimizes the possibility of errors and flawed document design.

New Channel Partner
Commerce Plus Services, a Dallas-area consultant and system integrator specializing in Infor Application Plus (A+) software for distributors and wholesalers, has been named a channel partner of ACOM Solutions, Inc., it was announced by Rick Redden, CPS vice president of Operations, and James R. Scott, ACOM senior vice president.
According to Redden, CPS was formed to identify and install "gap" applications-software that the A+ package for IBM AS/400/iSeries/System I midrange users doesn't include-in a customer base numbering more than 900 companies with revenue levels of $25 million or more.
"The first of these was a sales tax solution and we are currently engaging with several customers per quarter[R1] ," Redden said. "Not long ago one of our customers came to us for a Positive Pay and ACH electronic payment solution. Knowing that the Infor distributor-wholesaler package does not offer these as standard modules, we saw a great opportunity. Infor has no Positive Pay and while it accommodated ACH for inbound payments, there was no resource for outbound."
CPS reviewed the field of payment software and discovered while there were a number of packages available, most were PC-resident. At ACOM he found both. ACOM's product suite contains one set of the ACOM solutions that run native on the IBM midrange platforms, while a parallel software set is architected for the PC/ANSI environment.
The total Integrated Document Management Solution from ACOM includes core products for electronic payments (EZPayManager) and electronic document design, production and management (EZeDocs). Augmenting these solutions is a comprehensive set of modules, including the sought-for ACH and Positive Pay, and a companion solution for electronic document management and archiving (EZContentManager).
