Software AG announced the availability of webMethods Integration Cloud: Container Edition. webMethods Integration Cloud: Container Edition uses Container technologies such as Docker to simplify and automate the deployment of webMethods integrations in the cloud, offering a new way for IT organizations to architect their integration logic.

As organizations move from onsite server management to a more flexible, pay-on-demand model for computing infrastructure, the IT department is increasingly tasked with moving applications to the cloud. Whether mandated to initiate all new software projects in the cloud or to move a large percentage of applications and systems to the cloud within a finite period of time, IT organizations are constrained by the increasing complexity of integration and the directive to cut costs associated with onsite server maintenance.

webMethods Integration Cloud: Container Edition offers a specific set of functionality within webMethods Integration Cloud that enables businesses to bundle their webMethods integration packages and deploy them as independently running Docker containers within Software AG's cloud environment.

Wolfram Jost, chief technology officer, Software AG, noted: “webMethods Integration Cloud: Container Edition introduces a new way of architecting integration logic. It employs a ‘lift and shift’ model that providing the fastest and simplest approach for companies to package their integrations and shift their deployment to Software AG’s Integration Cloud environment as well as customize their integration architecture to best fit their needs.”

Organizations can manage and monitor their containers and images, and support bi-directional interactions between their webMethods services running within the containers and the flows they build in Integration Cloud.

Wolfram Jost continued: “We see a wider variety of users being tasked with integration projects – from traditional specialists and ad hoc developers to non-technical users, including business analysts and SaaS applications administrators. This variety of users, combined with the increasing complexity of integration, means there is really no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to these projects. Those that have built and are happy with existing integration projects are looking for simple ways to collect and package integrations from the data center and redeploy them to the cloud.”

webMethods Integration Cloud: Container Edition supports microservices architectures, eliminating the need to run full implementations of the Integration Server. This enables users to deploy partial environments that scale from full Integration Server instances down to individual packages and services, and makes it possible for businesses to break down their integrations into granular microservices that scale at the service level rather than at the server level.
