Alternative service levels include virtual machines running on a single IBM server, virtual machines on fault-tolerant clustered servers, and virtual machines on two separate servers replicated across multiple data centers.
Connectria Hosting, a global managed hosting provider, today announced it has launched a cloud solution for the IBM i platform based upon two years of testing, development and research done in cooperation with IBM.
Connectria’s IBM i Cloud Hosting Solutions have been designed to run on the reliable IBM Power Systems servers to deliver all the benefits expected from a Connectria Cloud Solution, including reliability, scalability, flexibility and affordable pricing. Customers of Connectria’s IBM i Cloud Hosting Solutions will be able to purchase the IBM i capacity and support they need, when they need it, for as long as they need it–backed by Connectria’s world-class 24/7 IBM i administration and support, the company said.
Starting as low as $495/month, Connectria’s IBM i Cloud Hosting solutions are an alternative to purchasing an IBM i system and running it on premise. For each virtual machine, the customer can add processor, memory or disk capacity as needed, as well as scale from as little as 595 CPW to more than 50,000 CPW. In addition to the IBM i capacity that customers purchase, they will also purchase Connectria’s world-renowned 24/7 IBM i administration and support to ensure their IBM i systems are secure, reliable, and running at peak performance.
Connectria provides three IBM i Cloud Hosting options to optimize a customer’s cost, performance and uptime needs. Alternatives include Connectria Silver Cloud for IBM i (virtual machines running on a single IBM POWER7 server, lower-cost option), Connectria Gold Cloud for IBM i (virtual machines running on fault-tolerant, clustered IBM POWER7 servers) and Connectria Platinum Cloud for IBM i (virtual machines running on two separate IBM POWER7 servers replicated across multiple data centers).
“The Power Systems platform has been an excellent technology in which Connectria has established strong expertise,” noted Rich Waidmann, Connectria CEO and President. “We are very excited to offer these Cloud Solutions for a technology with such longevity and value. Now customers can leverage Connectria’s superior IBM i managed hosting services in a flexible and affordable cloud computing environment.”
Waidmann added, “With the addition of Connectria’s IBM i Cloud Hosting, Connectria continues its industry leadership hosting the broadest range of cloud computing platforms, with the ability to run Windows, Linux, IBM i, IBM AIX, and Oracle/Sun Solaris within Connectria’s cloud computing infrastructure. No other cloud provider even comes close.”
Connectria will be highlighting the IBM i Cloud Solution during System i Network’s IBM i Essentials Virtual Conference on April 5, 2012. Register here to join the free conference event.
