Q: I'm trying to use Visual Basic (VB) and an ODBC driver to access one of our diagnosis files. I've set up a data source, and I'm able to connect to the AS/400 through Client Access, but I get an error saying that ODBC can't find the library diag. I've checked the authority and spelling, and I have it set up correctly. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?
A: You've probably run into the most common problem when configuring an ODBC connection. When you're using the ODBC Administrator program and specifying one or more libraries, many of the drivers are case-sensitive. If you want to access the library DIAG on the AS/400, you have to configure the driver using the uppercase name of the library. I suspect you'll suddenly be able to see all of the files in the library once you make that change.
