Latest release of market leading X-Analysis solution gives IBM i users something to smile about
Fresche Legacy, a leading provider of legacy technology management solutions serving the IBM i and HP Midrange markets announced today the release of X-Analysis V10, a market leading solution for documentation and design recovery for IBM i environments and the flagship product of Fresche Legacy’s Databorough division.
New capabilities for automated analysis, modernization, documentation, consolidation and export of business rules from legacy code
Over recent years, customer modernization projects have driven demand for better control and reuse of business rules embedded in legacy RPG, COBOL and CA 2E (Synon) applications. This release of X?Analysis has been significantly enhanced to provide new capabilities for automated analysis, documentation, data modernization, and consolidation and export of business rules from legacy code. It also adds powerful features for annotation and visualization. Users of the tool can now easily and accurately synchronise business, regulatory, and modernization requirements within their software code.
New management and measurement features make software upgrades more efficient
To speed and ease the upgrade path for various vendor software releases, X-Analysis 10 also adds new management and measurement features, including powerful and sophisticated complexity, problem and difference analysis inquiries and trend reports. For instance, an IT organization planning an upgrade of the Oracle JD Edwards World ERP system can leverage X-Analysis 10 to easily report the differences between current releases (and customizations) and the latest 9.3 release or even interim releases and cumulative PTFs. This capability makes upgrades and installation of PTFs more efficient and cost-effective.
“Complexity metrics and maintainability indices are the foundation of any efficient development practice,” says Garry Ciambella, Vice President of R&D. “This release of X-Analysis provides IT organizations and IBM i development managers with a much clearer set of measurable inputs to quantify resource requirements and run development projects. There’s a lot less guesswork and much better results.”
New tools to enhance database modernization efforts
For companies focused on database modernization to achieve better performance and security, X-Analysis 10 offers a unique set of automated tools for the database modernization lifecycle, including auto extracting foreign keys from RPG, Cobol or Synon, modernization problem analysis, automated conversion of DDS to DDL with modern long names and derived constraints, complete automation of data conversion and constraint extraction from RPG. Unique to X-Analysis 10, modernizing DDS to DDL is done without impact to the business, as recompiling the applications is not necessary.
Andy Kulakowski, President and CEO of Fresche Legacy states that: “X-Analysis has gained its stellar reputation in the IBM i market by allowing IT executives to better understand and measure the size, usage and complexity of their RPG, CA 2E/Synon, COBOL and Java applications, isolate code bases around a particular business function or division, and better understand complexity and identify problems upfront. This improves the project planning and costing process for IT project teams, minimizes redundancies and unknowns in the project cycle, and ultimately builds confidence among business stakeholders in IT delivery timelines and resource requirements.”
