New Generation Software, Inc. (NGS), and Vormittag Associates, Inc. (VAI), developers of business software for the IBM System i, have announced the release of an NGS-designed business intelligence solution for customers of VAIÆs S2K enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The enhancements in the NGS-developed solution will help S2K customers gain greater access to financial, sales, customer, vendor, and inventory performance information.

The NGS Real Time Reporting and Analysis tool for VAIÆs S2K now includes a Web portal that contains links to business trend and performance dashboards, reports, and multi-dimensional OLAP presentations built directly over the S2K database. The solution is designed to work with release 3.7.5 of S2K.

ôReal Time for S2K provides c-level executives with unprecedented, visual access to the comprehensive S2K dataset and is truly a load-and-go solution that a new or existing System i and S2K customer can use immediately,ö says NGS Director of Marketing Bill Langston.

ôNGS enhances our graphical reporting and analysis capabilities to help customers see their performance in new ways,ö says VAI Chief Information Officer Kevin Beasley.

VAI and NGS also offer their mutual customers the Decision Assist Business Performance Solution for S2K with additional reports, dashboards, and multi-dimensional models for sales management, customer profitability, and inventory management. Built over a DB2 data warehouse on the System i, the Decision Assist Business Performance Solution for S2K includes back-end ôETLö (extraction, transformation, and loading) routines to load S2K 3.7.5 data into the data warehouse on a customer defined schedule.

By retaining three years of historical information thatÆs typically purged from the OLTP database, users will receive a long-term perspective on key performance indicators. Additional benefits include simplified query development with an easier-to-understand database, and a high-performance query environment. The latter is due to pre-processing that occurs during data warehouse updates.

Both solutions are developed, maintained, and supported by NGS using the NGS-IQ business intelligence and enterprise reporting system. The above solutions are offered through NGSÆ long-time, successful business partnership with VAI. ôOver the years, weÆve worked closely with VAI and their user community to combine their valuable knowledge of the needs of distribution, manufacturing, and retail companies with our expertise in developing easy-to-use, readily accessible reporting solutions,ö explained NGS President and CEO, Bernard Gough.
