Maintaining modern applications and systems is challenging. Applications are becoming more distributed and sophisticated. The underlying environments these workloads are running on are becoming more complex, with increasing adoption of virtualized and hybrid cloud environments.

The data volumes generated by the average data center are exploding; 97% of this data is not fully structured, for example, logs and stack traces. Many IT problems cannot be solved without deep analysis of this unstructured data. Usually, this analysis is a manual process that is time consuming.

IBM SmartCloud Analytics is a new family of capabilities designed to index, search, and analyze application, middleware, and infrastructure data generated by your key business applications. IBM SmartCloud Analytics provides a log analysis that accelerates problem isolation, identification, and repair by providing insights into previously untapped and underutilized sources of data.

While support for multiple log sources and types is provided, the solution enables in depth, prepackaged domain insights and includes examples for IBM WebSphere Application Server V7 and V8 and IBM DB2 9.7 and 10.1 sources, further accelerating value for application developers, application support, and middleware subject matter experts.

Highlights

  • Advanced search and text analytics technology from the IBM big data platform - IBM InfoSphere BigInsights
  • Intuitive user interface and design enabling easy free form search and directed search interactions
  • Search logs using configured and discovered patterns such as stack traces, class and thread IDs, and error codes to quickly identify and repair issues
  • Quickly visualize application error type distribution across thousands of log records
  • Fast installation, typically installs in less than 30 minutes
