Smarter Process is the IBM approach for reinventing business operations to enable greater customer-centricity in the age of mobile ,social, cloud, and big data. A Smarter Process approach drives greater efficiency and optimization in to end-to-end processes through software capabilities such as operational decision management, business process management, and case management.

IBM Operational Decision Manager (IBM ODM) V8.7 enhances the Smarter Process portfolio by enabling you to identify business situations and make decisions faster. It provides a comprehensive and easy-to-use platform that allows you to detect situations in real time and capture, automate, and manage frequently occurring, repeatable business decisions. As a result, you can better identify opportunities, respond to market demands, minimize risks, and operate consistently.

In IBM ODM V8.7, end-to-end simulation capabilities empower business stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPI), simulation scenarios, and custom graphical reports with no support from IT.

The Decision Server offerings are restructured as Advanced, Standard, and Express, to address the incremental requirements from basic rules to full decision management. IBM ODM Express provides an entry point that is designed for initial business rules projects. IBM ODM Standard offers full transactional decision management across the enterprise. IBM ODM Advanced further extends the offering to include proactive decision automation in the business moment.

The IBM decision management platform is extended with Decision Server Insights that enables real-time, context-rich decision automation for proactive decisions in the business moment, to constantly evaluate opportunities and risks at the time of interaction for immediate business action. Decision Server Insights takes advantage of and expands on the event processing and decision modeling and management capabilities of IBM ODM, introducing rich time modeling, reasoning and analytics to detect and respond to intricate patterns and trends; innovative global analytics to extract valuable insights over populations of business entities in real-time; and generalized, business-friendly modeling over all aspects of the decision model design. In addition, Decision Server Insights delivers built-in integration with IBM SPSS to easily use predictive analytics at the time of interaction. Decision Server Insights is included with the Advanced edition of IBM ODM V8.7.
