IBM Connections Cloud provides an intuitive set of cloud-delivered online technologies for businesses that combine social networking and online collaboration, messaging, and web conference tools. With Connections Cloud, companies benefit from essential and effective collaboration tools that help simplify and improve daily business interactions between customers, partners, and colleagues. The power of Connections Cloud is that it is designed to give companies the ability to collaborate and easily work with others inside and outside the firewall.

IBM Connections Files Cloud, a Connections Cloud offering, is a new standalone cloud-delivered service that combines the ability to share files with internal and external users with the ability to synchronize users' files across their own devices. Small to medium businesses, line-of-business departments, or corporate IT can sign up easily and start using the service immediately. The familiar browser interface, desktop clients, and mobile applications provide simple ways to get to the most important files and keep them in sync with other users and devices.

Connections Files Cloud gives users the ability to upload, store, and share files in a centralized library, where you can control access of files to be private or shared with individuals or groups, as readers or authors. Users can easily and securely share documents with colleagues, customers, and partners while helping to comply with corporate IT policies and reducing the organization's risk for loss of corporate intellectual capital.

Profiles, included in Connections Files Cloud, provide business card and additional contact information about colleagues. Profiles help users manage contacts across business networks both inside and outside the organization and allow users to invite guests to view or work on content shared with them. Updates and notifications from the activity stream help users follow what others have shared with them by informing everyone about the most recent changes to their content.

Employees can use multiple devices, from Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac desktops to mobile smartphones and tablets. Plug-ins are available to let you transfer files between the desktop and the cloud. Selected files are synchronized across each user's desktop and mobile device so users always have the latest versions of their files no matter which device they are using.
