I need to transfer a spool file(i.e. compile listing) to a PC file for editing

I am trying to send a spool file to the PC. Every post I read and follow gives me a file on the PC that looks like:

E6C4E240E5F6D9F1D4F
04040F0F8F0F2F1F540
D9D54040404040404040 etc,etc.

among many different methods, I created a flat PF 132 and did a cpysplf (using **PRTCTL, *FCFC, *NONE)
Nothing works.
What could be so hard to do such a simple proc?

I used to do it years ago, but forgot the details.

I am not sure if it is good enough for you. But you can transfer the spoolfile using the Client Access Navigator.

Hello! Here's what I just tried, and it worked fine:

On the iSeries, I created the physical file, and did the CPYSPLF.

CRTPF FILE(BRUCELIB/PRINTER) RCDLEN(132)

CPYSPLF FILE(QPQUPRFIL)
TOFILE(BRUCELIB/PRINTER)
JOB(454601/BBARDINI/HMO38TDEV)
SPLNBR(1)
CTLCHAR(*NONE)

From my PC, I ftp'd to the iSeries and did the 'get'. 'Sample.txt' was ASCII, and ready for editing on a PC.

ftp> get brucelib/printer sample.txt
