Forget custom queries—Skyview's new reporting tool delivers the precise audit journal reports that auditors want from pre-configured, ready-to-run reports.
SkyView Partners has just announced SkyView Audit Journal Reporter for IBM i and i5/OS, a new reporting tool that generates pre-configured reports in a variety of formats from events logged in the audit journal.
Audit Journal Reporter includes more than 25 pre-configured, ready-to-run, reports and generates them based on the information from the events logged in the audit journal. It delivers them in PDF, spooled file, CSV, XLS or outfile format. Reports cover a number of areas including:
- Invalid sign on attempts
- Changes to auditing values
- Creation of user profiles
- Commands run by a particular user
- Sign-on activity
- Issues related to moving to security level 40
“Early this year we surveyed our "Coffee with Carol" webinar attendees about how they get compliance information from the audit journal,” says John Vanderwall, SkyView Partners chief operating officer. “We expected to find that a lot of people were using a commercial software package. While some people are using a reporting tool, we were surprised to find that a large number of people are still writing custom queries to pull information from the audit journal. After exploring the reasons behind this method of obtaining information from the audit journal, we saw a real need for a new, up-to-date product that focuses on the compliance information auditors are requesting that resides in the audit journal."
“We spent a lot of time researching the types of reports that customers need," says Carol Woodbury, SkyView Partners president. We listened carefully and are responding by delivering a customized product tailored to answer the questions that we see the auditors asking,” she says. "It’s been a long time since a new audit journal reporting tool has been introduced into the market. A lot has changed over the years. Many new events are now being logged and new fields added to audit entries since the last audit product was introduced many years (and IBM i releases) ago. In addition, compliance is now a driving force when it comes to security configuration and administration. Compliance has changed the type of information that companies need to provide to auditors and at the same time auditors have become more savvy about the IBM i information that they are requesting.”
“With SkyView Audit Journal Reporter, we’ve taken our expertise and eight years of customer experience and created a fresh look at all the information kept in the audit journal,” says Vanderwall. “This product will be sold both as a stand-alone solution and as part of our SkyView IBM i Security Compliance Solution that comes complete with installation and configuration included in the price.”
General availability release of the new product is set for October 31. The price of SkyView Audit Journal Reporter will be based on processor group and will range from $2,495 to $6,250.
