Townsend will supply encryption key management technology for Quantum's Scalar tape automation product line.

Patrick Townsend Security Solutions (PTSS) today announced it has entered into a technology partnership with Quantum Corp., a leading global specialist in backup, recovery and archive. In this partnership, PTSS has provided critical encryption key management technology for the Quantum Scalar tape automation product line. Townsend's encryption key management product launched earlier this quarter.

"For years we’ve provided encryption key management within our own software solutions; our continued innovation and reputation for expertise in this technology has put us in a position where other great companies (now) seek out our solutions," said Patrick Townsend, CTO." By working with Quantum we were able to make an encryption key management solution available to a large and wholly different market (from )… those we’ve reached before,” he said.

When we set out to design our next-gen security solutions, we wanted to deliver powerful key management while minimizing cost and complexity. After evaluating several technology approaches, we selected PTSS to help us deliver a solution that integrated seamlessly with our Scalar tape libraries and iLayer management software.  We have been pleased with both the PTSS partnership and the technology,” he said.
