Satyam Computer Services Ltd. and Bsafe Information Systems have announced a partnership under which Satyam will provide managed security solutions based on the Bsafe/Enterprise Security product suite.
The Satyam-Bsafe solution will provide advanced access control, auditing and alerting functionality for IBM System i, System z and connected Windows and Linux servers–making it widely appealing to a broad range of multinational corporations whose IT environments often feature such technologies, the companies said.
Additionally, the unique cross-platform audit functionality provided through this solution will enable global companies to streamline their compliance management requirements through automated logging and monitoring procedures, said the companies. As such, the offering will allow companies to better align their IT security management procedures to numerous regulations and standards, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), jSOX, Basel II, control objectives or information and related technology (COBIT), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the payment card industry data security standard (PCI DSS).
“Satyam and Bsafe have made it much more manageable for us to meet our auditing compliance requirements and our system integrity requirements,” said Sainath Gawde, manager of IT operations for HDFC Standard Life Insurance. “By using this tool in conjunction with our system servers, we’ve been able to track daily activities of both our external developers and internal users in a single log. It is now easy and fast for us to get any details of changes to the system which have an auditing or system integrity impact.”
The Bsafe/Enterprise Security suite enables companies to identify and track areas where they are most vulnerable and to limit access to sensitive data, in accordance with the requirements of many compliance programs such as PCI DSS. With regards to PCI DSS specifically, retailers can use this new solution to manage and limit access to their cardholder environments, a critical requirement under the data protection mandate and an essential activity for ensuring ongoing compliance.
The solution consolidates audit information into a single log automatically thus providing a more robust and efficient alternative to manual consolidation procedures, which often overload IT professionals, the companies said. The introduction of this new offering further strengthens Satyam’s ability to support key industries such as retail, insurance, and financial services. It also serves to round out Satyam’s existing managed security practice, which includes offerings such as firewall and VPN services, managed intrusion detection and prevention, and managed vulnerability and virus protection.
“The Bsafe/Enterprise Security suite provides an excellent value proposition to our customers who want to manage security for their multiple server platforms more intuitively,” said Nick Sharma, Satyam’s senior vice president of Global Infrastructure Services. “Additionally, it significantly reduces time spent on protection of mission-critical data and enhances companies’ ability to manage against regulatory compliance initiatives. At Satyam, we constantly look for ways to deploy sophisticated security products to keep our customers’ information safe. Bsafe/Enterprise Security is a welcome addition to our product portfolio.”
In keeping with Satyam’s efforts to provide end-to-end security solutions, it will deliver the suite in a fully managed capacity, i.e., it will perform all daily functions for its clientele.
“As a leader in managed security for the Fortune 500 community, we look forward to leveraging Satyam’s deep expertise in rolling out world-class security solutions across complex IT environments,” said Arjon Cohen, vice president for channel management, Bsafe Information Systems. “Satyam has already implemented Bsafe/Enterprise Security solutions in customer environments across multiple continents, and we are excited to collaborate with them on these and other projects to help customers ensure their security and compliance with minimal disruption.”
