Has anyone written a program that will randomly pick a number? We are doing random drug tests at our plant and would like a way for the AS/400 to do this for us. I have been kicking around a few ideas, but I figure someone else has already done this. We write our programs in RPG and CL.

In QUSRTOOL there is a tool called GENRANNBR that we use to generate a set of numbers between 1 and the highest record number in our employee master file. We use the random numbers to chain the employee records by relative record number and print out a list. It took about six hours to write.
