RJS Software Systems, a leading provider of information management solutions for the System i, has announced the release of V3.0 of WebDocs, the company's award winning document and image management software. The new enhancements include new security features, interface and indexing improvements, and new administrative tools, the company said.
Security Features
WebDocs now allows for expanded user and group assignments and more flexibility in assigning user security privileges. Users can be assigned to multiple groups instead of a single group giving them greater access to work documents across the enterprise. In addition, user access settings, which had been set at the folder level, have been extended to document types, giving system administrators more security options.Easier Administration
System administrators can define default document types and folders for each user and group. These selections become the default drop-down menu options whenever users perform a search. Because the defaults are the most commonly used documents and folders, this enhancement will provide users with quicker searches and fewer clicks.Expanded Functionality
The WebDocs folder structure has been enhanced to allow for up to five levels of folders, giving system administrators the ability to create more complex folder structures. Pre-set lookup lists provide for quicker searches and more accurate indexing.Browser and System i Interface Improvements
The WebDocs browser interface has been redesigned to be more user-friendly and intuitive. Search and routing functions are strategically placed at the top of each page, making them easier to find and use. In addition, the System i interface now fully conforms to iSeries screen design standards. WebDocs can also be customized using a JSP interface.Maintenance Screens
Green screen maintenance functionality has been improved to allow for easier administration and reporting. Administrators can assign or change folder access by user or user access by folder. There are new screens to change document type by user or user access by document type. In addition, there are new screens for custom lookups and lookup lists. Finally, reports can be created to view orphaned users, folders, or document types. Release 3.0 is available immediately and is free for maintenance-paying WebDocs customers.
