CYBRA Corporation, the developer of award-winning MarkMagic bar code labels, RFID tags, and electronic forms software and the all-new EdgeMagic integrated RFID control software for IBM System i, has begun shipping MarkMagic 6.1, an updated version that features a new add-on option, MarkMagic Print Manager.

The new MarkMagic Print Manager lets users take control of their document management, the company says. The option lets users specify rules that trigger printing conditions based on the contents of a document or label, as well as the environment in which the print job is run. At run-time, MarkMagic Print Manager automatically processes these rules and changes printing instructions, even bursting print jobs to print each record with its own set of instructions. Print Manager adds a whole new capability that IBM System i users never had before--the power to develop sophisticated print jobs without writing a single line of code.

MarkMagic Print Manager lets customers do the following with the named controls:

  • Select printer based on customer state. This is used, for example, to print statements on a branch office printer closer to the customer's location, or route the job to a specific printer based on the time of day, or user, or an unlimited number of criteria.

  • Change format if customer balance is greater than zero, and you wish to print a reminder message, or to automatically print a holiday message if the date is between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day.

  • Burst print jobs and use a different format for subsequent pages of a document. Now you can print header information on one page, and subsequent pages are all detail.

  • Change printer type. Print Manager can automatically print compliance labels with different customer formats on different loading dock printers.

  • Save money by duplexing invoices and statements with control over when to burst and start on a new page.

  • Change character sets, for example, by testing for country and printing country-specific labels or forms with correct currency symbol and formatting.

According to Sheldon Reich, CYBRA vice president Marketing, "Print Monitor applications include: automatically printing medication administration record forms at nurse's stations, or automatically printing compliance labels closest to where pallets are staged. And invoices or statements can be emailed or faxed to save postage, all without programming."

CYBRA has scheduled webcasts to demonstrate the power of Print Manager. Interested users may contact CYBRA at 800-CYBRA-88 for upcoming webinar dates and times.
