Highlights include a revamped developer interface, support for Master Pages, a new smartnav UI control, more AJAX support, BLOB support and testing and change control enhancements.
Version 9 offers a single, integrated environment centered around "on-the-fly" delivery of new System i solutions by reusing existing applications. Marcus Dee of looksoftware said, "Our business is all about reuse. Some System i shops are mainly concerned with front-end modernization, while, for others, service enablement of their back-end System i applications is the priority. With Version 9, you can do both, supported in a single, integrated environment, and now with support for Master Pages, it provides the rich UI delivery required for composite applications."
Dee said general availability of the release is expected in the second quarter of 2008.
Version 9 will be previewed at looksoftware's upcoming Webcast "Don't Reinvent the Wheel." Register online at http://www.looksoftware.com/wheel_webcast.htm to join the Webcast in your respective time zone.
