Following its successful launch of snap for MS Outlook and snap for iPhone3G, looksoftware has announced a snap solution for Oracle's JD Edwards World. The enhancement will provide a gateway of opportunity for the thousands of JDE World users around the globe to integrate, extend, and service-enable their highly customized core applications, the company said.
Early adopter Dave Hyzy, director of IT at Florida based Benderson Development Inc. said, "This is the software I've been waiting for for 10 years!" After a long search through alternative new technologies and platforms, Hyzy discovered looksoftware and snap. He says that he now looks forward to significant enhancements to a the company's leasing module that resides within their customized World application.
snap is designed to improve reuse of IBM back-end applications, enabling easy plug-and-play integration with almost any other application. snap connectors include MS Outlook, SharePoint, and mobile front-ends, and snap can connect existing applications to any other application or device that supports Web services. snap's components can deliver streamlined business processes and reduced operational costs, the company says.
Benderson's investment in customizing its World code to suit its changing business requirements meant that a rewrite or replacement did not make practical business sense. The company selected snap to deliver new Web front-ends and improve "anywhere, anytime" access with Outlook and mobile devices like BlackBerry and iPhone. Benderson also will use looksoftware's products to integrate its core IBM based applications with Oracle's BI, document management, and work-flow products. "We have invested considerably in customizing and extending JDE," says Hyzy. "looksoftware's ability to reuse our existing code to deliver Web services and multichannel access to JDE through Web front-ends, Outlook, mobile devices, and other applications eliminates the need to consider the costs and risks associated with replacing our ERP."
looksoftware's initial release of snap for Oracle's JD Edwards World is scheduled for general availability in November.
