V8.3 of SPHiNX software allows IT administrators to get more done in less time.
Crossroads Systems has announced the upcoming release of SPHiNX 8.3, the latest software update for what the company describes as a holistic data protection and storage appliance that provides highly reliable disaster recovery capabilities from the desktop to the data center. General availability is scheduled for June 29.
Crossroads showcased the release of SPHiNX 8.3 at COMMON and explained to users how it offers a complete disaster recovery solution for midrange server and open system host environments. SPHiNX 8.3 will offer significant automation options designed to save organizations both time and money, the company said.
With downsizing trends continuing, many organizations are forced to adopt a "more with less" philosophy. As a result, it's no surprise that one of the top goals is to improve operational efficiency by automating processes. SPHiNX 8.3 will allow more use of automation in performing typical daily tasks such as replication, export of data to physical tape, and storage reclamation after data is successfully offsite.
"In SPHiNX 8.3, Crossroads is enhancing the product to provide more automation with user-defined event policies and the ability to trigger other events to automatically occur without the need for additional user intervention," said Glenn Haley, senior product manager at Crossroads Systems. "We’re also updating several of the SPHiNX Web management pages to improve the overall usability of the product. This is yet another example of Crossroads listening to its customers and improving its product to meet the latest needs."
SPHiNX is a data protection and storage appliance that provides reliable disaster recovery capabilities from the desktop to the data center. Organizations choose SPHiNX to centralize, consolidate and replicate their data at disaster recovery sites and data centers – all with the ability to manage and scale to meet the backup needs from multiple host systems and OS types. With SPHiNX, organizations report a greater sense of security, a reduction in expenses, improved efficiency, better utilization of available resources, and less tape media use, according to Crossroads.
