Design Systems, Inc. has announced the release of Payment Courier V2.0 (PmC), the LANSA-built electronic payment processing application native to the System i platform. The Card Present API, new to this version, lets a clerk swipe the customer's credit card and sends the Card Track Data along with the purchase information for authorization and capture. This action eliminates the need for a clerk to manually enter the card information through the Card Not Present API, which may lead to keystroke errors. And because the Card Track Data is included as part of the authorization transaction, businesses will now qualify for a better discount rate from the Merchant Bank.
The Card Present API is accessed though the Card Present Console and may be called directly by many POS/Retail system technologies and languages. ZIP Code and/or CVV2 Code authentication are featured options of the API, which can be set by the merchant. The PmC Card Present Console supports most USB or keyboard attached ôkeyboard wedgeö card swipers and readers.
The Card Present Console is a highly configurable 5250 application that is operated as a stand-alone application or integrated into existing applications. The configurations let the merchant modify the behavior of the application and its data handling capabilities, such as CVV code validation and ZIP code being requested by the application screens. These same features are also configurable in the API set, which let the system call the API, along with other applications, in an unattended kiosk mode. ôAs System i shops continue to find new ways to use their servers for e-commerce applications, a robust and flexible credit card payment system becomes an essential component,ö said John Siniscal, president of LANSA Americas. ôDesign Systems has become a leader in this field and this new functionality makes their solution even more powerful. We are pleased they chose LANSA as their technology platform.ö
Don Clark, product manager at Design Systems, Inc., said, ôA number of our eCommerce customers have walk-in, retail, or pickup customers, and they requested we extend the capabilities of the Card Not Present system to accommodate the Card Present type of transactions. Within 6 weeks, we were able to extend the capability of Payment Courier to accommodate the card swiper and the ôswipeö transaction. This speaks to the modular design of Payment Courier, as well as the rapid development one can expect from LANSA technologies.ö
Payment Courier is compliant with Payment Card Industry Standards and Recommendations and uses SSL Communication with Card Processing Networks for processing credit/debit card payments. By using Payment Courier, a business may expect a total credit/debit card transaction response time of less than two seconds.
